Regional Minister Search Committee
To the Greater Kansas City Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),
We are the GKCCC Regional Search Committee convened by the GKCCC Regional Executive Council and Board to search for a new Regional Minister for our region. Over the next few months we will develop a Regional Profile and Job Description, will seek and review candidates, and will conduct interviews. Our purpose is to find our next Regional Minister to lead us beyond 2025.

As a part of this effort, we need the input of Regional staff, Tall Oaks staff, ministers, churches, and participants in our churches to help us formulate the strengths and needs our Region is facing and what strengths, talents, gifts, and abilities we are seeking in our next Regional Minister. As part of this process, we must consider where we have been, where we are, and ultimately, where we think God is leading our Region tomorrow.

This is not a fast process. Our General Minister and President, Rev. Dr. Terri Hord-Owens' strongest encouragement to our group was to "trust the process and work the process." So we are. We will begin with listening sessions that are open to anyone and everyone connected to our Region. There will be 5 in-person sessions and two Zoom sessions. In addition, we have developed an online survey you can go to anytime to provide input and feedback.

Our ultimate goal is to find and select a new Regional Minister to lead our Region forward from here. Please make yourself a part of this process. Attend a listening session in-person or on Zoom, fill out the online survey, and be in perpetual prayer for our committee and our Region through this moment. We want and need your input to help decide who we are seeking to lead.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback to share with us directly, please use our Regional Email, searchcommittee@kcdisciples.org
God Bless us all in this process!

Updates
Once the listening sessions are completed, the Regional Search Committee will take the information gathered and create a Regional Profile for this Ministry position. This profile will then be listed with the General Church in Search and Call. Additionally the committee will send the profile to other groups and organizations within the DOC to find candidates, including Obra Hispana and the National Convocation, among others.
Once applicants are received, our Regional Ministry Partner Sandy Messick, Regional Minister from Florida, will take the candidates' profiles and they will be reviewed by an independent reviewer who will rate the candidates based on how they compare to our Region's profile. Then all of the candidates are sent to our search committee for us to discuss and review.
The committee will narrow the candidates down and perform Zoom interviews with prospective applicants.
From this group, three final applicants will be selected and ranked by the committee. The first candidate will then be offered a chance to come in and interview with the committee. Depending on how that interview goes, the other candidates may or may not be invited in for an interview. Once the interview(s) are complete, an offer will be made to the desired candidate. If accepted, the committee will notify the Regional Board. The candidate will be brought in again to meet the board and answer their questions. The candidate will then be presented at a Regional Assembly where the Region will vote on the candidate.
If you have any questions or input on this process, please email the Search Committee.
